Prof. Rosa Vlastou received the Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Athens (1974) and the PhD in Nuclear Physics from the University of Birmingham (1978). She joined the National Technical University of Athens in 1980, where she is currently a Professor in the Department of Physics and Director of the Nuclear Physics Laboratory. She has been a visiting scientist in many European Laboratories and Universities and has participated in several European projects (ESSA-30, EUROGAM, EUROBALL) and currently at CERN (n-TOF) and International Atomic Energy Agency (MANREAD). Her research activities are focused on Nuclear Structure, Nuclear Reactions and Applications of Nuclear Techniques in Materials Analysis and Environmental studies. She has supervised 9 PhD theses (and 3 more are in progress) and many MSc and Diploma theses. She has been a member of the Organizing Committees of 8 International and 3 Hellenic Nuclear Physics Conferences. Her record includes over 120 publications in scientific journals and over 150 papers in conference proceedings.
